Of Friends and Websites
This is an update on the novel for everyone following its progress. The two beta reads are complete and the feedback was all brilliant: very useful, very affirming. It's a relief to know that I've written something that other people can enjoy! I'm now into another edit, picking at words and rearranging descriptions. All good fun.
There's already a long list of people to be named in the 'I'd like to thank the Academy' section of the book. My two amazing novella beta readers, Sue and Linda, have given up their time and taken a punt that I wasn't going to hand them something awful to trawl through! My wonderful husband is coding the website in time for the launch on December 1st. My third beta reader and best friend, Toria, is pulling all the Brit-isms out of the first free story to go up on the website. I don't know what I've done to deserve friends who are willing to do all this for me but I'm incredibly grateful.
I'm grateful too for the people who listen to me going on about it all. This is one of the most exciting things I've ever done, it's something I've wanted to do my whole life, and it's so much fun! It's great to share this with everyone and I do on a regular basis.
I'm lucky to have them, and I'm lucky to have you all, following this blog, waiting for the book to come out. Sometimes February seems like a very long way off and sometimes it seems like a looming deadline. I'm missing being involved in NaNoWriMo this year, but it'll be worth it. The launch party for the novella is a part of the Redemption Convention and not only does the book have to be ready, I have all the usual work to do for the programme stream I'm involved in running over that weekend!
No pressure... but luckily I work better to a deadline.
